Professional education is an integral part of King’s Vision 2029. Based within the King’s Professional & Executive Development (KPED) team, this role will play a key part in ensuring KPED responds to the university’s plans for growth in professional education and to extend access to a King’s education.
The main purpose of the Data & Reporting Officer will be to produce regular and ad-hoc insightful reporting of management information and business intelligence that inform key stakeholders. Reporting to the Senior Professional Education Coordinator, this role will significantly contribute to identifying and co-ordinating improvements to the activities underpinning professional education data and will require you to build strong relationships with colleagues in faculties and departments, particularly the Students & Education Directorate and Strategy, Planning & Analytics Directorate. You will act as the voice of the professional education customer, documenting processes and facilitating implementation of changes.
The postholder will also be responsible for working in collaboration with Student Records to evolve a robust process for inputting and monitoring data for an increasing portfolio of professional education courses (face-to-face, blended, online, hybrid, and hyflex), and enhancing the enrolment and onboarding experience for our participants and clients.
The successful candidate will have a can-do approach to initiating and completing focused tasks, while also possessing the ability to apply skills and knowledge in new contexts as appropriate. They will be an excellent communicator; able to explain complex processes to a non-technical audience and to tailor appropriate advice and feedback to both senior stakeholders and the wider KPED team.
The role is primarily based at King’s Strand Campus, though you may be required to travel to other campuses on occasion. As part of King’s trial of hybrid working, all team members can work remotely for part of the week if they wish.

- Create and develop reports using participant data, including contributing to developing a suite of data reports for the stackable micro-credential framework.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, ensuring clear process documentations and training plans are in place.
- Provide the Director of Professional Education and members of the Senior Leadership Team with ad hoc data and reports as required.
- Support the preparation of statutory returns and reports to HE-BCI.
- Provide advice and support to colleagues regarding best practice in data collection, data reporting and other related topics, including support to faculties on course set-up, admissions and enrolment for professional education programmes and projects.
- Be an expert on GDPR compliance, modelling best practice to colleagues and providing training and support for KPED.
- Generate and maintain guidance documents on data systems and processes.
- Support in collating and unifying processes around SITS and work with internal stakeholders to assist faculties in identifying and implementing the necessary changes.
- Contribute to projects on CRM customisation and provide advice and training on best practice for the use of the CRM for KPED.
- Support with the development of evaluation processes for professional education and embed these within working practices.
- Collate quantitative and qualitative feedback on professional education and make recommendations to improve participant experience in response.
- Propose recommendations for improvements to streamline King’s processes for professional education.
- Participate in cross-university and cross-unit committees and workstreams and in implementing proposed solutions emerging from these committees.

Skills, knowledge, and experience
1. Experience of using student records and databases, preferably with experience of using a SITS-based system.
2. Confident and competent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems and software tools for data analysis and insight work (e.g. Power BI, Microsoft Dynamics).
3. Ability to extract, manipulate, and analyse complex data in a variety of formats from a range of sources.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to comprehend and communicate technical concepts with clarity.
5. Ability to identify areas of ineffective working or systems failure and developing approaches to improve effectiveness or resolve problems.
6. Great attention to detail and the ability to identify errors and issues and propose solutions to resolve them.
7. Ability to work collaboratively and form good working relationships with academic and professional services staff at all levels.
8. Ability to manage own work independently and proactively, within managerial direction.
9. Knowledge and understanding of key data concepts, including GDPR and other data protection legislations.
10. Knowledge and understanding of higher education.
11. Knowledge and understanding of professional education.
