The Role

Applications are invited for a Research Fellow position in the fields of  DNA nanostructure self-assembly and DNA computing. The position is based in the group of Professor Damien Woods at the Hamilton Institute , with possible co-appointment in the Department of Computer Science. Funding is provided by the two projects: Active-DNA (ERC,  Horizon 2020) and Active Tiles ( SFI Frontiers for the Future Programme).

The role involves theory and engineering of DNA-based self-assembly systems and DNA/molecular computers systems in the wet-lab, including mathematical theory and analysis, developing pipelines for experimental protocols, executing experiments, analyzing data and publishing results in top-tier journals, as well as conferences in the field. In particular, the role will focus on the study of nucleation and growth in self-assembling DNA systems. The successful candidate will take a leadership role in Prof Woods’ research group, continue to develop their research skills, publish high-quality work, receive training and mentorship in grant funding applications,  supervise students and advance their academic career. We seek candidates willing to take the lead on new research directions in exciting and foundational research topics and who are excited to define the future of the field.

The post will run until 30th November 2025.

Salary

Research Fellow (2023): €61,318 – €66,815 p.a. (4 points)

An increment will apply after 12 months of service.
Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
