About the Role 

The Lecturer plays a key role in clinical learning and teaching activities, providing supervision and teaching to students in degree programs. The focus is on supporting skill development in a pre-clinical and/or clinical environment, including the delivery of lectures, tutorials, and other relevant teaching and administrative responsibilities. The position primarily involves teaching second-year Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) students but may also extend to other Melbourne Dental School degree programs and professional development courses. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Contribute to the successful delivery of teaching and provide clinical practice leadership to staff and students. 
  • Prepare and mark assessments, deliver lectures and tutorials, and actively contribute to curriculum development and evaluation. 
  • Demonstrate leadership and service through engagement with professional bodies, mentorship of junior colleagues, and fostering collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Ensure compliance with University policies and procedures, maintain knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) responsibilities, and exhibit behavioural and collegial values in line with the University. 

Who We Are Looking For 

You possess a high level of organisation and time management, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to adhere to written guidelines and study protocols. Your strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, along with your experience in optical design software, adaptive optics imaging, and familiarity with statistical software, position you well to contribute to innovative new research in the field. 

You will also have: 

  • A completed dental qualification registrable with the Dental Board of Australia and current AHPRA registration (no previous or current AHPRA notifications). 
  • A minimum of 5 years’ clinical experience in general dental practice. 
  • Demonstrated clinical teaching experience specifically with students undertaking tertiary dental education.
