REALLOCATE's main objective is to pave the way towards climate-neutral, safe, inclusive and smart European cities through integrated and innovative sustainable urban mobility solutions that will address the needs of diverse groups and communities, while rebalancing street space allocation.
Pilot studies in 15 urban and periurban unsafe areas will demonstrate innovative urban space management and reallocation strategies for sustainable modes (with a specific focus on active modes), having in mind safety, inclusivity, affordability and a just transition to climate neutrality overall. Solutions include innovative urban design, behavioural nudging, smart technological and data-driven solutions to reduce actual and perceived road safety risks, all contributing to achieving climate neutrality by 2030.
This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.
The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.
In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project:
- Perform and integrate analyses of urban road safety & the safety system approach
- Assess digital tools and new mobility services in collaboration with other project partners, including AI-enhanced decision-support tools
- Perform Living Lab assessments of interventions and develop impact assessment frameworks
- Prepare relevant deliverables and journal publications
- Organise and participate in workshops and Living Lab events as needed
- Support the PI in preparing Horizon Europe proposals
PD1: Salary Range: €42,783 - €49,177 per annum
PD2: Salary Range: €50,540 - €54,965 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.

The PD2 post is intended for researchers that have completed PD1. As with the PD1, if you have already completed your PD2 stage in UCD or will soon complete a PD2, or your total Postdoctoral experience, inclusive of the duration of the advertised post, would exceed 6 years, you should not apply and should refer to Research Fellow posts instead.
