Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Specialist Clinician in Veterinary Internal Medicine within UCD School of Veterinary Medicine.

The Section of Small Animal Clinical Studies of the School of Veterinary Medicine in UCD has created a clinical post to support the continued growth and strategic planning in the small animal internal medicine area. The appointment is subject to qualifications and experience of the candidates. The UCD Veterinary Hospital has state of the art equipment including CT, MRI, ultrasound, interventional radiology, full endoscopy and arthroscopy, laser, a radioactive iodine unit and fully equipped surgical and intensive care suites. Ancillary support includes rehabilitation and physiotherapy. The Section currently has capacity for 13 Clinical Academics/Specialist Clinicians including four surgery, six internal medicine, two emergency and critical care and one oncology specialists. These staff are supported by 10 interns (rotating and discipline specific), 9 residents and a full team of ancillary staff. The Intensive Care Unit has one supporting Intern and two nurses. Applicants must hold a degree in veterinary medicine registerable with the Veterinary Council of Ireland or a specialist degree with which an application for limited registration with the Veterinary Council (see could be made. The successful applicant must be an active specialist in Internal Medicine with European (ECVIM) or American (ACVIM) board certification or be eligible to attain such a qualification in the immediate term (residency trained). The successful candidate will contribute effectively to the Section and the UCD Veterinary Hospital and in particular, will participate fully in undergraduate (clinical) teaching, in postgraduate residency training, and in the Small Animal Internal Medicine Service provided by the Hospital.

Salary: €95,000-110,000 per annum

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
