Description
New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to investigate the relationships between multiple components of the urban network and the environment. The successful candidate will work closely with other NYUAD researchers under the supervision of Professors Monica Menendez and Olivier Pauluis, within the newly established Arabian Center for Climate and Environmental Sciences (ACCESS), an interdisciplinary research center focused on regional climate and environmental change in the Arabian Peninsula.
The position will likely start in Fall 2023. Candidates must have a Ph.D in Engineering, Computer Science, Urban Science, or a related field. Experience in environmental sciences and engineering is required. The successful candidate will work with scientists at NYUAD and international collaborators to further our understanding of interactions between urban networks and their environment through a combination of new observations, data analysis, and modeling. Among the potential focus areas are: climate impacts on urban areas, climate adaptation and mitigation strategies for cities, air quality and pollution, and transportation networks. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills in English and should have demonstrated the scientific creativity necessary to tackle complex environmental challenges in urban areas.
The terms of employment are very competitive and include a flexible working environment, annual home-leave travel allowance, generous housing and relocation benefits, as well as educational subsidies for children.
Applications will be accepted immediately and candidates will be considered until the position is filled. To be considered, all applicants must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae with full publication list, statement of research interests, and at least two letters of recommendation to be sent confidentially, all in PDF format via Interfolio.
If you have any questions, please email Professor Monica Menendez at mm9602@nyu.edu
