Our finance team plays a big part in this achievement as we deliver a first-class service to over 1,500 staff and 20,000 students, providing an efficient proactive, knowledgeable, customer focused service to all of our stakeholders.
As such, we are currently recruiting a Senior Finance Assistant to lead and manage the accounts payable and cash services team, guaranteeing the effective and efficient operation of the function, whilst ensuring that we maintain a positive working culture and good work-life balance.
The Role:
As Senior Finance Assistant, you will have an excellent opportunity to use your experience of managing Accounts Payable and Bank Reconciliation teams to lead, manage and mentor, while encouraging teamwork and best of practice working.
Your extensive skills and knowledge of Accounts Payable and Cash Reconciliation processes will be key to this role and serve you well as you plan and supervise the operational activities of the team, ensuring that consistent business processes and controls are applied for recording and managing purchase invoices, manual and BACS payments and reconciliation of all bank accounts.
We anticipate that you will have a strong systematic approach to completing tasks and high attention to detail, which will allow you to manage fulfilment of the team’s commitments, while working under pressure to set deadlines.
Your people skills will also play a big part of your success in this respect, as you lead and mentor your team, and collaborate with your various stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, internal and external auditors and others as required.

What we will need from you:
- Educated to HNC and/or a technical or higher qualification in accounting or extensive finance experience
- Demonstrable team management experience in both Accounts Payable and Bank Reconciliation teams
- High level of computer literacy, including MS Word, advanced MS Excel skills, use of database applications
- Tactful and courteous telephone manner with an ability to deal with difficult calls
- Willingness to support, accept and drive through change to deliver and meet the business needs, with a strong customer service focus

Salary: Grade 4: £29,605 - £36,024 per annum – depending on experience
