We’re committed to driving diversity in the 5.0 talent pipeline, working in partnership to promote talent wherever it is found and crafting a balanced, inclusive, and green future.

About the Job

Do you have a SIA Door Supervisor licence, First Aid at Work qualification and proven experience gained working in the security industry or a directly related sector? Are you looking to make the most of your skills in an environment that is open, vibrant and encourages new insights? Then join the University of East London as a Security Officer.

Your challenge will be to provide an effective, efficient, customer focussed and professional security service that provides a safe and secure environment for staff, students and visitors alike. We will also rely on you to proactively protect the University’s property and assets using a range of technology, including CCTV; ANPR cameras; BWV cameras; mobile readers; access control and fire systems. On any given day you might be carrying out security patrols, attending incident, providing a first aid service or, when required, deputising for the Supervisor, Controller, or CCTV Operator. In short, it’s a varied, exciting and vital role that involves working as part of a 24-hour/7 days a week alternative shift system which includes nights. There are vacancies for night shifts only too.

You must, however, have excellent communication skills, including the ability to diffuse difficult situations, produce written incident reports and familiar with radio communication protocols i.e., NATO phonetic alphabet. The ability to use IT systems within the department is important too, as is a willingness to undertake appropriate training, plus a dedication to/understanding of, equal opportunities issues in a diverse and multicultural environment.
