(Level B) $107,276 to $126,894 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies. Clinical Loading may also apply.

Fixed term, part time (0.4FTE) position available for 12 months, with the potential for extension.

The Adelaide Medical School provides an innovative and collaborative research and teaching environment, located primarily in the Adelaide Health and Medical Sciences building on North Terrace.

Based at the Adelaide Health and Medical Sciences Building, this Lecturer role will be responsible for coordinating and leading teaching activities in year 3 of the new Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine Program (BMD). In this program, students participate in Scenario Based Learning (SBL) sessions twice per week. SBL is a group-based activity that supports application of student knowledge and promotes content integration across the various curriculum domains.  These domains are defined by the Australian Medical Council and are known as science and scholarship, professionalism and leadership, clinical practice and health and society.

In this Lecturer role, you will join a dynamic academic team to lead delivery of SBL in year 3, semester 1.  This will involve leading a team of casual tutors from both clinical and non-clinical backgrounds to deliver SBL sessions on a Monday and Thursday. The role also includes scenario review and development, with support and direction provided by the Year 1-3 SBL Lead.  In semester 2, the role will transition to development and delivery of a clinical, case-based discussion workshop (one session per week), as well as supporting overall course delivery as a course co-coordinator.

In order to meet the needs of this role, you will possess clinical experience which will allow you to integrate concepts from across the curriculum and facilitate small and large group discussion.  You will also need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, as an essential aspect of this role will be to liaise with, and support, casual tutors, academics and clinical titleholders. Due to timetabling limitations, it is essential that you are available to work on both a Monday and Thursday.

To be successful you will need:

  • Experience in working in Australia as a medical practitioner and an awareness of clinical resources to ensure teaching materials reflect best practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in innovative teaching methods and curriculum development at a tertiary level.
  • Proven ability to contribute successfully to a multidisciplinary work environment, including excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience with online learning management systems and information technologies to support student learning.
  • A student-focussed approach to education, including the ability to provide and respond to high-level feedback.
