An exciting opportunity for a Placement Coordinator (ESRC SEDarc DTP) at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The University of Surrey is a global community of ideas and people, dedicated to life-changing education and research.

We are ambitious and have a bold vision of what we want to achieve - shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world, which we are achieving through the talents and endeavour of every employee. Our culture empowers people to achieve this aim and to collectively, and individually, make a real difference.

About the role

The ESRC Doctoral Training Partnership (SEDarc) embeds an expectation that all studentship holders will complete the equivalent of a three-month full-time placement to allow them experience of putting their research skills into practice in a real-world context. Three pathways to placements are envisaged: placements arranged with partner organisations and advertised across the cohort; bespoke placements matching a student with a new partner organisation, including academic placements; and placements acquired through students successfully applying to external schemes. The Placement Coordinator is required to carry out activities to support the effective and efficient operation of this placement programme across the entire cohort (approx. 39 per annum) for all six universities involved in the doctoral training partnership.

The Placement Coordinator will be expected to liaise with a wide variety of partner organisations to facilitate the arrangement of placements according to an established set of guidelines. The Placement Coordinator will also communicate with studentship holders and supervisors across the partner institutions in the Doctoral Training Partnership across the placement lifecycle.

About you

With a good understanding of the UK higher education system and experience of building and maintaining good relationships with numerous stakeholders, the successful candidate will have excellent Microsoft 365 skills and willingness to undertake necessary training to learn bespoke software systems, as required.
