Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Scientist -Environmental and Development Finance within UCD School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy.

The WECOAdapt (Water management through ECOhydrology for climate change ADAPTation) project brings a unique transdisciplinary perspective to address climate change, urban expansion and water and land degradation in sub-Saharan cities. It focuses on reducing and preventing the negative impacts of floods, drought and unsustainable urban development, and on reversing the degradation of water and land resources and declines in biodiversity.

The appointee will be involved in research activities to co-develop and test an integrated decision support toolkit in three pilot sites in Dar es Salaam, and in the establishment and implementation of three multi-stakeholders Water-Land-Climate Co-design Labs for the collaborative co-design of adaptation options and pathways integrated with finance mechanism in five pilot sites.

Your main tasks will be conducting research, and defining innovative adaptation finance mechanisms to support climate adaptation initiatives in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with a focus on reducing the negative impacts of floods, droughts, and unsustainable urban development. You will work with the WECOAdapt team (UCD, ARDHI University and Centre for Community Initiatives, Tanzania, and with stakeholders, including local communities, local authorities, and Civil Society Organisations, to co-design and test finance mechanisms tailored to the specific needs of three pilot sites in Dar es Salaam.

Salary Range €34,800 - €39,950 per annum Pro Rata @ 0.5 FTE

Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
