Research Engineer (IT Programmer for Developing Virtual Reality environment for Chemical Engineering

Job Description

Research Engineer (IT programmer) position in the Department of Chemical and Bimolecular Engineering (CHBE) at National University of Singapore (NUS). The aim of the position is to design, develop and integrate 3D models for selected chemical engineering unit operations (specifically building VR filter press and VR clean room), and do the necessary programming for creating VR platform.

The Research Engineer is required to (i) develop 3D models using an appropriate tool, (ii) to integrate the 3D models, (iii) work closely with 3D modeller to create an interactive VR platform (iv) work on various aspects of virtual reality platform as required during the project, and (v) work closely with our industrial partners.

Job Requirements

• The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in computer engineering or other relevant related field. A chemical engineering with minor/major in computer engineering or relevant field is acceptable.
• Good programming background is needed (specifically 3D graphics programming experience with Unity, C#, Unreal, OpenGL, DirectX or similar), and game development or graphics programming
• Prior experience with User interface and rapid prototyping experience in Virtual Reality
• Good written and spoken communication.
• Fixed term contract.
