Job Description

The National University of Singapore is inviting applications for a Research Fellow position in the Infectious Diseases Translational Research Programme and Department of Physiology at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Our laboratory's overarching research focus is investigating how the microenvironment interacts with lung cells and how dysregulation of this interaction contributes to lung disease pathophysiology, specifically asthma, respiratory infections, and lung cancer. The long-term goal of our research is to identify novel therapeutic targets for these diseases.

Purpose of the post

We seek an enthusiastic and self-motivated research fellow to join our team.

Main duties and responsibilities

The research fellow will be expected to lead the design and implementation of infectious lung disease models across different species, establish and maintain 3D lung cultures, supervise graduate and undergraduate students, administer ethics approvals, and manage grant funds while maintaining the highest standard of professional conduct and record-keeping in accordance with policies and procedures. The RF will also assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.

Qualifications

The applicant should have a PhD in Life Sciences or related disciplines with a background in lung and/or infectious disease research, particularly with experience in in vivo animal infection models and molecular biology. It is preferable that the applicant has the ability to lead manuscript writing of publications arising from the research work. He/She should:

  • have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
  • have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with evidence of being responsible.
  • be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, and be self-motivated with initiative.
