The Policy and Governance (PoGo) Program, in which the position is based within Crawford School, aims to deliver research, teaching, policy advice and scholarly leadership to inform policy decision-making, shape public administration practice and produce future public service leaders. Our Policy and Governance research delivers insights into the most important policy issues of our time. From public finance to health policy, anti-corruption to social policy, our interdisciplinary research generates new knowledge and informs policymaking.

Crawford School is seeking up to two ambitious early- to mid-career researchers with an innovative research agenda aligned with the research and teaching of the Policy and Governance Program, with a particular focus on the Asia-Pacific. The positions on offer are a fixed-term (up to 3 years) appointment at the Lecturer (B) or Senior Lecturer (C) level or Associate Professor (D) level, depending on the attributes and experience of the successful applicants.
Our Ideal Candidate
The successful applicants would complement and extend existing teaching and research strengths within the Program, which include but are not limited to: Public Administration, Public Sector Ethics, Public Finance or Social Research Methods. They will demonstrate an emerging or established research track record with a commitment to research excellence. The successful applicants would deliver high quality teaching at a postgraduate level in our Master of Public Policy (MPP), Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Graduate Certificates (Public Management, Public Policy and Policy Design and Analysis).
The Lecturer (B) / Senior Lecturer (C) / Associate Professor (D) will take responsibility for a minimum of two courses per year (12 units credit) during this appointment, teaching and supervision at the postgraduate level (including HDR) and where appropriate undertake additional training to develop these skills.
The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor will contribute to curriculum renewal and may teach into other Crawford and ANU teaching programs. In addition to teaching in POGO’s graduate teaching program, the appointees will also contribute to research supervision, undertake collaborative and independent research leading to high quality publications and contribute to the School’s reputation and work with policymakers.
