The School seeks to appoint two Research Fellows in Forensic Linguistics.  

The Faculty of Arts

Who We Are Looking For  
The Research Hub for Language in Forensic Evidence, housed within the School of Languages and Linguistics, is seeking to appoint two researchers to contribute to the realisation of its strategic plan. The Hub  aims to build the research base necessary to ensure that all audio used as evidence in criminal trials is accompanied by a reliable transcript, produced via accountable, evidence-based methods, with reliable translation and speaker attribution where needed – and provided to jurors in ways that assist them to determine a reliable interpretation of the content of the audio evidence.  

You will also have:  

  • A PhD (or, for a candidate with relevant professional experience, a PhD nearing completion) specialising in Linguistics and/or another discipline relevant to the work of the Research Hub for Language in Forensic Evidence, e.g. Law, Forensic Science, Cognitive Science, Speech Science 
  • A developing research record, demonstrated by high quality publications and national or international recognition 
  • Potential to attract competitive research funding
