African Genome Center (AGC) Introduction:
The AGC entity houses a comprehensive genomics, metabolomics, Genome Editing, Genetic engineering, and bioinformatics platform designed to serve as a central point for research and training. It hosts a diverse and tightly-knit scientific community and offers cutting-edge molecular and genomic resources. Its primary mission is to establish itself as an accredited research and diagnostic center in Morocco and Africa. This involves conducting fundamental and applied scientific research in areas such as food security, agriculture, conservation, environment, and health, as well as contributing to technology transfer and the training of highly skilled personnel.
Position Description:
A Postdoctoral position with a fellowship is now open to join the genomics group at the African Genome Center (AGC) within the University Mohamed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) in Morocco. This group utilizes innovative approaches in molecular biology and genomics to investigate microbe interactions. The selected candidate will be engaged in research projects related to environmental genomics.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in biology, molecular biology, genomics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in genetics and molecular techniques is essential. Competence in DNA/RNA extractions, PCR, and library preparations is anticipated. Knowledge in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and experience in data analysis, meta-analysis, and proficiency in R and Python languages would be advantageous. We also expect a demonstrated ability to plan, conduct research, and interpret results, leading to publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Proven supervisory skills and adaptability in changing environments are desirable.
