About the Role 

We have two positions for a Lecturer, or Senior Lecturer or Association Professor in Aviation  within the Department of Aviation in the School of Engineering. 

The Department has over 30 years of track record of offering high-quality teaching and research in flight training, safety, human factors, and aviation management.  We are seeking to appoint two positions in one of the following areas: aviation technology, aviation safety, human factors, flight operations, aviation management, aviation economics, air cargo and logistics, airline operations, and airport planning and operations.  

Teaching responsibilities will involve preparing and delivering lectures and assessing students in aviation both on campus and online.  The incumbent is expected to participate in activities for the development of closer and stronger links with industry in Australia and internationally.

The appointee will undertake teaching, research, course management and curriculum development in their discipline or related area. The role would also assume administrative tasks associated with normal teaching duties, and contribute to other relevant professional activities in the Department.  The position is expected to mentor and support students on academic matters, and supervise undergraduate, Masters and PhD students.  

About You  

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • A track record of research as evidenced by publications in high quality journals. 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively undertake teaching and associated administrative duties at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Experience of working with industry

Applicants for appointment at Associate Professor level should demonstrate a strong track record of academic leadership, and possess an excellent record of research scholarship, both in terms of publications and funded research.  Applicants with less experience will be considered for appointment at the level of Senior Lecturer / Lecturer.  Please refer to the attached Position Description for details.
