We are seeking to appoint a Physiotherapist with a passion for teaching and learning and a track record of excellence in practice. The successful candidate will join the Academic Department of Physiotherapy and work closely with the team that includes expert educators and research active academics with a diverse range of specialist backgrounds. Together the staff deliver two innovative pre-registration Physiotherapy programmes (BSc and MSc) that adopt a blended approach to learning and also contribute to the college -wide interprofessional education programmes. The role will provide an excellent opportunity to develop your teaching skills using a broad range of approaches and learning technologies including the cutting edge Chantler clinical skills centre. In addition, you will be able to contribute to a range of authentic assessment approaches (that prepare our students to be evidence-based person-focussed practitioners.
About us: the Academic Department of Physiotherapy is situated in the School of Life Course & Population Sciences and comprises an expert team of educators providing excellent research enhanced teaching and learning opportunities that prepare over 250 pre-registration Physiotherapy students effectively for working and leadership in the changing health and social care environment.
The BSc Physiotherapy Programme is the highest ranked in London in the Guardian University League table 2023-24. The Department is based on the beautiful Guy’s campus near London Bridge station and Borough market, and you will have access to the King’s Sport Health and Wellness facilities that are free to all staff.

This is a full-time post – 100% full time equivalent (80% is possible)
Key responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Lead modules and contribute to innovative and evidence-based physiotherapy education on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes which aim to ensure graduates are responsive to the changing needs of healthcare.
- Foster in students the transition of knowledge and skills between the College and Practice settings and the development of values required for evidence based, client-focussed decision making as well as compassionate and dignified care.
- Contribute to assessment and feedback of physiotherapy across the curriculum.
Administration
- Undertake administrative duties as agreed with the Head of Academic Teaching Department of Physiotherapy including: student admissions, membership of and attendance at Departmental Education committee, Assessment sub-board, etc
Tutor
- Undertake personal tutor training and act as personal tutor to assigned students.
- Act as link tutor to students during their practice placements where required
Other Duties
- Perform all tasks within the requirements of the Faculty’s Policies: including Health & Safety, Patient Confidentiality and IT Security.
- Make full use of the training facilities that are on offer through King’s College London Staff Training and Development Unit.
- To undertake such other duties as required by the Head of Academic Teaching Department of Physiotherapy

Skills, knowledge, and experience
Essential criteria
- Degree in Physiotherapy ideally with current HCPC or other appropriate registration.
- Experience of working in higher education and/or substantial experience of practice-based learning supervision with ability to design and deliver teaching sessions.
- Excellent knowledge, practical skill and evidence based clinical reasoning of an area of physiotherapy practice.
- Knowledge and/or experience of contemporary healthcare issues within NHS and the wider health and social care environment.
- Excellent time management and organisation skills & ability to work under pressure to achieve goals and meet deadlines.
- Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, actively addressing areas of potential bias.
Desirable criteria
- Teaching qualification
- Masters/PhD level qualification and/or relevant post-registration training.
- Experience of co-ordination and administration of educational modules.
- Experience of differentiating teaching and assessment for different academic levels (undergraduate and postgraduate).
- Experience of curriculum development.

The post will be based at Addison House on Guy’s campus. The majority of teaching is in-person and primarily at the Guy’s campus. The postholder may occasionally be required to work at other campuses or visit partner trust sites.
