Are you passionate about supporting the successful education and progression of young people? Do you enjoy working with students from secondary school through to sixth form and college?
We are looking for an enthusiastic practitioner who enjoys both delivering in the classroom as well as helping to organise events to engage young people in making informed decisions about their next steps to join the Southern Universities Network (SUN) to deliver the Uni Connect programme, which is funded by the Office for Students.
The SUN comprises of a number of higher education providers, further education colleges, schools, and other organisations in Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight., Uni Connect aims to reduce the gap in higher education participation between the most and least represented groups.
The post-holder will support the delivery of the SUN outreach programme to young people aged 13-19, both on and off campus to targeted students, teachers, parents/carers and advisers, in accordance with the aims and objectives of Uni Connect. This post will see the successful candidate mixing home-working and being based at the University of Southampton, working under the direction of the SUN Project Leader.
The successful candidate will have relevant experience of working with young people and knowledge of the education sector. They will possess excellent communication, organisation and inter-personal skills with experience in creating content, either through resources or online. They will have excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately to deadlines. They will be a team player who will relish the challenge of working in a collaborative setting. They will be approachable and demonstrate a commitment to the values of the widening participation agenda.
The Uni Connect programme is scheduled to run until July 2025. This post will be full-time on a fixed term basis until 31 July 2023, initially to cover a secondment but with the possibility of extension.
A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service clearance at Enhanced level may also be required.
