The Business School are currently seeking a Manager, Researcher Support and Development to oversee the delivery of initiatives that increase the research capacity of the Business School and the capability of researchers to undertake research projects and build strong and sustainable programs of research in strategic areas.
This role provides operational management of the School's internal research project funding and research travel schemes and all research services and initiatives that support and recognise quality research conducted across the School.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- support the strategic direction of the research work undertaken by the work area
- provides strategic advice and support to the development and implementation of the ongoing research strategy of the work unit
- provide leadership and people management of research support staff in Research Services
- provide operational management of the School's internal funding schemes and research support initiatives
- provides management and oversight of the School's external research funding strategy and operations
- manages the Business School's Researcher Development Program
- communicates research information, events and achievements within the Business School and profile Business School research externally.
About you
- previous experience working in the higher education sector, or at a complex, multi-faceted organisation
- experience project managing multiple work streams or working in large complex projects and ability to work according to strict deadlines and manage various demands
- experience managing a diverse group of key internal/external stakeholders on large or complex projects
- excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with a variety of matters
- ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
- planning analysis and communication skills together with the ability to work according to strict deadlines and manage various demands
- experience in controlling income/expenditure for reconciliation/budget tracking and managing invoice payments and purchases for projects
- excellent administrative skills, coupled with a general understanding of the project life cycle, project documentation, project standards and methodologies.
