Description

The Sadler Edepli laboratory at NYU Abu Dhabi is accepting applications for a position as Research Assistant starting in spring 2024. The laboratory's research utilizes genomics, imaging, and animal models including zebrafish, mice and octopus to study development, cancer, and regeneration. The laboratory is collaborative and works using a team-science approach.  All laboratory members are an active part of NYUAD's vibrant research and learning community.

The research assistant will be an integral part of the laboratory, providing support to ongoing projects, oversee some of the administrative and operational duties in the lab and will carry out independent research.  Job duties will include providing technical support for multiple projects simultaneously, developing, carrying out and presenting independent research projects that involve technical skills in confocal microscopy including live imaging, molecular biology and working with zebrafish. Additionally, the position will involve some participation in laboratory administrative duties such as ordering and asset management, working with undergraduate students and zebrafish and mouse husbandry. A strong work ethic, high degree of professionalism, initiative and a demonstrated collaborative approach to team work are essential. Minimum 2-year commitment expected.

Qualities of a successful candidate include:

1. B.S. (or equivalent) in Biology or related fields.
2. Experience in a research laboratory, preferably with zebrafish
3. Experience with and/or understanding of molecular biology techniques and genetic principles and imagin
4. A high degree of organizational skills, initiative and the ability to quickly learn new things.
5. Excellent spoken and written English.
6.  Innate curiosity about science and demonstrated strong work ethic.
7. Outstanding ability to work as part of a team and a positive, friendly attitude.
