The Department of Arts and Design in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites renowned artists from around the world for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor of Fine Arts in Western Media. In line with Macao's special position in the world, the Department of Arts and Design of UM, which is under construction will be composed of a team of superb art historians and creative artists, with equal emphasis on academic research and artistic creation, to pursue artistic and academic innovation that crosses the barriers between the ancient and the modern, the Chinese and the Western as well.
Applicants should be creative artists who have a reputation domestically or internationally for artistic creation using one or more Western traditional or modern art media such as oil painting, print, sculpture, or synthetic materials. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Fine Arts or related areas, with sufficient exhibition experience and experience in teaching and supervising masters and doctoral students in universities. Preference will be given to those with theoretical, critical, and interdisciplinary academic research skills.
Successful candidate should also demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. While applicants must be excellent in Chinese (speaking and academic writing), excellent in English is considered an asset for the appointment.
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty as early as June 2024.
A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,210,300 (approx. USD149,420) for the position of Full Professor, MOP1,019,200 (approx. USD125,830) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP828,100 (approximately USD102,230) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
