Applications are invited for a position in Physics Department at the level of Research Assistant Professor (Ref.: 523165), commencing as soon as possible for an initial period of two years with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance-review and funding availability.

Duties and responsibilities include

  • Conducting research of 2D material synthesis and growth, physical property characterization
  • Helping on logistic and other admin supports of an on-going AoE project titled “2D Materials Research: Fundamentals Towards Emerging Technologies”
  • Liaise and/or coordinate research collaborations
  • Maintaining the research lab to ensure good working order
  • Helping on student supervision
  • Summarizing data and drafting papers for publication 

Applicants are required to possess

  • a Ph.D. degree in condensed matter physics
  • excellent command of written and spoken English
  • knowledge and at least 2 year’s working experience on molecular-beam epitaxy, scanning probe microscopy and other surface characterizations
  • good interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • ability to work on a tight schedule to meet project’s deadlines
  • ability to work independently and in a team
  • self-motivated and responsible
