The Center for Smart Engineering Materials (CSEM) at New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on computational modeling of smart materials for sensing and diagnostics in the oil/gas and civil engineering sectors.

The Post-Doctoral Associate will support the center's goal of developing smart and sustainable solutions for sensing and diagnostics in the oil/gas industry, as well as structural and mechanical characterization of materials for energy harvesting and construction materials. The center has access to state-of-the-art computational facilities for high-performance computing, in addition to collaboration opportunities with center members. The Research Associate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students, and undergraduate students. The research project's specialty will be in the atomistic modeling of the materials and their properties.

 Applicants must have a Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, or a related field, with experience in modeling of materials using both classical and quantum mechanical approaches. A solid background in statistical mechanics and quantum mechanics is required. Applicants with experience in quantum mechanics softwares, molecular dynamics simulations, enhanced sampling techniques, OpenMM, force field optimization, machine learning applications in chemistry, and experimentally guided simulation are highly desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and good computer programming skills, as well as a working knowledge of UNIX, Python, and shell scripting, are required.
