We are seeking to appoint a teaching-focussed lecturer on the King’s Academic Education Pathway (AEP) for a fixed term 12-month contract to undertake the development and delivery of teaching and learning in semi-conductor manufacturing in partnership with ARM UK.
King’s College London, together with ARM and the UK Electronic Skills Foundation have recently been awarded funding by Innovate UK to address the Semi-conductor skill shortage in the UK. As part of this project King’s will be redeveloping the MSc in Electronic Engineering, designing new practical and experiential learning opportunities and developing online and outreach courses to provide a pathway for entry from a variety of backgrounds.
The successful candidate will be able to develop and deliver a multi-disciplinary and practical approach to semi-conductor electronics education including manufacturing and heat-transfer. This will involve working with others in the department and externally to enhance and transform existing curricula and to design new activities.
Note that the post involves occasional travel to ARM UK (Cambridge).
Responsibilities include:
- Design and re-develop curricula as part of a cohesive suite of modules working within the time-frame of the post
- Design and develop alternative provisions including online and outreach courses working with external partners
- Contribute to the ongoing development and utilisation of laboratory spaces and equipment developing practical experiments which enhance learning for a range of students
- Deliver excellent teaching and learning activities across the range of electrical and electronic engineering education in the department
- Act as a member of departmental committees, working groups and through internal and external networks.
In addition,
- To be a demonstrator and practitioner for innovation in academic practice in engineering education and learning, including curriculum development, teaching, learning and assessment and student experience
- To deliver teaching of the highest quality, which is motivating, engaging and memorable. The postholder will be expected to achieve consistently high levels of positive feedback on their module(s) and/or sessions
- To encourage and support the development of innovative approaches to teaching supporting through your own scholarship and experience.
- To run workshops, training sessions and discussion groups on developing teaching and learning practice in Engineering Practice open for all staff and teaching assistants.
- To demonstrate a proven commitment to equality and diversity.
