The University of Southampton’s Arts and Culture Team oversees a range of activities, across multiple artforms. The team includes our venues, John Hansard Gallery and Turner Sims, which are both Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisations.

We are looking to appoint an Arts and Culture Coordinator. This exciting post offers the opportunity to help develop and deliver a wide variety of activities and communications to connect with communities and enhance student experience.

In this role you will coordinate marketing and communications campaigns and administration. This will include developing and delivering an arts internship programme and providing communications and administrative assistance for Southampton Cultural Education Partnership. The role will work with colleagues across the Arts and Culture Team and university community, including the faculties and Student Union, as well as external partners.

Strong knowledge of arts administration and/or communications are essential for this role. You will need to be able to multi-task, make effective use of social media platforms and demonstrate excellent organisational skills.

The University is an important contributor to Southampton’s growing cultural reputation. We strive to make our activity inclusive and accessible, locally relevant and internationally acclaimed. We attract and engage with diverse national and international talent – our students, staff, diverse communities and the artists we work with. We support innovative practice that brings people together in a unique creative environment.

The Arts and Culture Coordinator will play a significant role in achieving our aspirations and developing our cultural offer, as we work to reach new and different audiences.

We are committed to equality of opportunity in employment and encourage applications from all sections of the community.

If you are interested and would like to find out more about the role, there will be a chance to arrange a confidential chat with Sara Lock, Head of Arts Marketing Communication, Arts and Culture on Monday 2 October and Thursday 5 October 2023. Please email to arrange a time.
