We are seeking a Technician (SG6) with a specialism in “Music, Sound and Spatial Audio” to join our team. They will support teaching and research activities across our new portfolio of programmes (BA Music and Sound Production, MA Music and Sound Design and PhD Music and Sound Arts) and our active SOUND/IMAGE Research Centre.

The appointed person will provide first and second line support in the music & sound area to staff and students, alongside maintaining and developing the facilities and equipment of the sound studios, field recording equipment and related systems. This role requires a strong commitment to service delivery and a pro-active attitude to developing new skills and keeping up to date with the latest developments in the field.

The post is responsible for developing a first-class service culture, which will support learning and enhance the student experience. The post holder will be expected to show initiative, judgement and sensitivity in dealing with queries from both staff and students.
 
The new post holder will join a team that will respond to enquiries from staff and students in a set time and of high quality, ensuring business/teaching continuity at all times. This involves working closely with academic staff to ensure effective and efficient running of the studios.

This post will play a key role in consolidating the faculty’s provision in the sound area, supporting both teaching and research.

The successful candidate will be Educated to Degree level or demonstrable experiential learning within a relevant technical, educational, management or business discipline
