Are you financially astute, highly analytical, technically strong, and insightful and influential, with the ability to operate at strategic and operational levels, plus a history of leading business process development to enhance financial efficiency and effectiveness across an organisation? Are you looking for a fresh challenge in an environment that’s open, vibrant and welcomes new ideas? Then join the University of East London as Associate Director – Business Partnering and Management Accounting.

It’s a particularly exciting time here at the University as, under our 10-year strategy, Vision 2028, there are big changes happening. Committed to driving diversity in the 5.0 talent pipeline, we work in partnership to promote talent wherever it is found and strive to create a balanced, inclusive, and green future and provide students with the skills necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world. The Business Partnering and Management Accounting team plays its part by providing strategically focused support to leadership teams and forging strong relationships with stakeholders to enable expert advice, critical challenge and timely decision support that enables the best financial performance.

Take on one of the senior leadership posts in our Finance function, and you could soon be responsible for leading, motivating and managing the work and development of our Business Partnering and Management Accounting team and supporting a number of wider strategic initiatives. We will also rely on you to provide leadership across the entire function and help the Director of Finance transform the business processes review and staff development to enable a more efficient and customer focused Finance function. Contributing to the delivery of strategic and operational plans that support the delivery of year-on-year improvements in operational efficiency, focus based outcomes and financial performance against constrained budgets will be an important aspect of the role too. What’s more, when it comes to understanding the strategic drivers influencing the UEL budget and financial forecasts and interpreting their effect upon UEL’s finances, again we will count on you to deliver.

To succeed, you will need to be educated to degree level or equivalent and CCAB qualified, with significant experience of budget management and a proven ability to introduce and adapt business processes, systems, and structures to improve organisational performance. You will also need to be adept at providing guidance/information to assist with decision making while anticipating and highlighting various influences and options that may require consideration. Used to planning, prioritising, and organising the work of yourself and others, working unsupervised and delivering to stated deadlines and ensuring the most effective use of resources comes naturally to you. You are also customer focused and comfortable communicating with a wide range of people at all levels, including writing reports, giving presentations, and interpreting financial and business data for audiences without a finance background.

So, if you have what we are looking for and are keen to take on a high-profile finance management role, get in touch.

At the University of East London, we aim to attract and retain the best possible staff and offer a working environment at the heart of a dynamic region with excellent transport links. You can look forward to a warm, sincere welcome, genuine camaraderie and mobility in an institution led with passion, visibility, and purpose. Your impact, resilience and sense of collegiality will directly contribute to the University’s future and those of the students whose lives you will touch and change forever. We also offer a great range of benefits including pension, family friendly policies and an on-site nursery and gym at our Docklands Campus.
