The Center for Genomics and Systems Biology (CGSB) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications from individuals to be appointed as a Postdoctoral Associate. The position will be based at NYU Abu Dhabi starting February 1, 2024 under the supervision of Professor Shady Amin in the Marine Microbiomics Lab. We encourage applicants with a strong marine microbiology background who have experience in fieldwork, culturing microbes (particularly phytoplankton), and analyzing omics data related to marine microbiomes. Applicants must have a strong publication record and a capacity to conduct independent, high-quality research. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in marine biology, oceanography, computational biology, or a related field at the time of appointment.

The Microbial Role in Coral Thermal Tolerance project at NYUAD CGSB focuses on studying the roles coral microbes play in adaptation to climate change using a variety of field, lab, and omics approaches. Experience in fieldwork and algal/bacteria culturing is mandatory. Experience in bioinformatics and next-generation sequencing data analysis is desired. Excellent communication skills in English, ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams, and scientific creativity are essential.

Researchers at NYUAD have access to state-of-the-art facilities that include NovaSeq, MiSeq Illumina and ion torrent sequencing platforms, and a high-computing cluster in addition to a newly created mass spectrometry facility (NYUAD Core Instruments).

The terms of employment are competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children.
