We are currently recruiting a Senior Research Fellow to undertake research in the field of 2D Metal Dichalcogenides. The project will offer a stimulating interdisciplinary environment and access to unique samples with which to explore new areas of nanoscience. The successful candidates will join an interdisciplinary team as part of an EPSRC funded project "2D Layered Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Semiconductors via Non-Aqueous Electrodeposition” The project will provide a breakthrough in the method of fabrication of thin film transistors and similar devices by delivering a disruptive combination of feature size, device complexity and materials quality, through advanced electrodeposition of semiconducting materials;
The successful candidate will be responsible for measuring and understanding the electronic properties of the electrodeposited films and devices and advising on how to optimise their properties. They will have a thorough grounding in the physics and measurement of semiconductors. Knowledge of cleanroom processing techniques is advantageous. They will have good experimental skills and experience of characterising electronic devices. They will be able to use their knowledge to analyse and interpret experimental results and innovate improved or new measurement techniques.
This post is suitable for a candidate with a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Physics, Electronics, or Materials Science and is available to start immediately. The post is initially a fixed term appointment until 30/06/2024.
For additional information/informal enquiries before submitting your application, contact Prof. Kees de Groot (chdg@soton.ac.uk)
Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
