About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a researcher with a background in applied mathematics, statistics, or computer science. Join our dynamic Biostatistics Unit at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, where you'll work on an externally funded project to accelerate malaria elimination. Your role involves developing mathematical models to assess antimalarial treatments, collaborating on guiding treatment strategies, and becoming a fellow of the Australian Centre of Research Excellence in Malaria Elimination. This position offers a unique chance to impact global health, work with esteemed professionals, and advance your research career.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Work collaboratively with the investigator team to contribute to the development of models and associated statistical inference techniques to explain antimalarial drug action.
• Working with the investigator team, contribute to the analysis and interpretation of routinely collected hospital data of patients with malaria.
• Report on model findings at regular meetings, and through formal presentations at Centre seminars and national and international conferences.

Who We Are Looking For

You excel in clear communication with diverse stakeholders, thrive in collaborative teamwork to meet project goals, and are eager to mentor postgraduate students.

You will also have:

• Completion (or near completion) of a PhD in applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related area.\
• A developing profile in research as a member of a team, as evidenced by the production of research publications, and presentations at conferences.
• Demonstrated ability to use statistical and computing programs such as R and Python.
