About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic University Librarian to come join us at Swinburne University as we implement the Campus Heart Project.  In this role, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership and management of library services, collections and projects to meet the learning, teaching and research needs of the University’s community.

You will oversee a Library Services team of 32 staff across 3 campuses and a library collections budget of over $7 million dollars. The role also develops innovative strategies, policies and processes to ensure Swinburne has a leading library service and experience for users.

You will be critical in providing advice for the library function in the Campus Heart project which will transform the student and academic experience into a vibrant, innovative, and user-centred hub of learning, industry partnerships, academic engagement and research - connecting the Library and BA buildings at the Hawthorn campus. The Campus Heart project is a part of the next gen campus revitalisation project running across 3 campuses to upgrade facilities to the next level.

About You  

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • Proven experience in a senior role leading innovative and customer centric library, information or digital services.
  • Advanced knowledge of contemporary library, information and digital issues and their application to the education sector.
  • Proven experience in improving (a) student engagement and satisfaction with library resources and facilities, including informal learning spaces, and (b) staff satisfaction with library services
  • Proven experience in planning and management for library or information services in large and complex organisations.
  • Proven experience in building partnerships, complex stakeholder management and experience, and driving and negotiating change.
  • Highly developed communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to influence and present to small and large groups, coordination of committees and creation of communication plans and resources.

Qualifications

A postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline with extensive relevant experience in library and information service provision, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
