Applications are invited for a Full Professor of Sustainability Geoscience within the School of Earth Sciences, University College Dublin (UCD). This is a permanent post arising from the Senior Academic Leadership Initiative (SALI) as set out in the Higher Education Authority (HEA) Call document.

Creating a sustainable global society is a core objective of UCD's `2020-2024 Rising to the Future' strategy (https://strategy.ucd.ie/). Under the Senior Academic Leadership Initiative, we seek to strengthen further our research and teaching in sustainability by making a strategic appointment at Full Professor level. Geoscience is key to achieving many of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and we encourage applications from those who can make a major contribution to this effort.

The successful candidate will be an exceptional mid-career Earth scientist with a demonstrable track record in driving forward the sustainability agenda from a geoscience perspective, and able to offer vision and outstanding leadership at school, university, and national level. We seek applications from those across the full breadth of sustainability geoscience, including, but not limited to, hydrogeology, marine and coastal geoscience, palaeoclimatology, supply of critical raw materials, geohazards and sustainable geoenergy. We highly value cross-disciplinary research and anticipate the successful candidate will forge new links with other UCD groups, both within the College of Science and more widely (e.g., with Engineering, Social Sciences).

95 Full Professor C. Salary Scale: €132,302 - €167,521 per annum.

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
