Job Description

An experienced Research Assistant is sought to work on a new MoE-funded research project entitled “Characterising the role of the sea-surface microlayer in regulating microbial dispersal, human exposure, and pollutant transformation”. The appointee will join a team of researchers from NUS and NTU. Duties will involve both field and laboratory work. The field work will involve visiting the island of Palau Ubin at regular intervals to conduct sampling of microorganisms in a coastal setting. Experience and/or enthusiasm for fieldwork is therefore essential. The laboratory-based experiments will focus on estimation of pollutant transformation by marine microorganisms. Previous experience in manipulative studies with microorganisms and/or analytical techniques for organic pollutants would be advantageous. The appointee will also be expected to contribute to other research projects and research support tasks where applicable.

Job Qualifications

  • Qualifications / Discipline: BSc (hons) required, and preferably a MSc
  • Skills: Field sampling of microorganisms, culture of microorganisms, microbial biodegradation assays
  • Experience: BSc (hons) required and preferably and MSc in relevant discipline
