Post Doctoral Fellow

Position Overview

Khalifa University (KU) is currently seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team. The successful candidate will primarily focus on the implementation of Deep Neural Network (DNN) models across various applications, with a particular emphasis on evaluating their implementation using alternative numbering systems. Additionally, the candidate will have the opportunity to explore different DNN compression techniques, including pruning, knowledge distillation, and quantization.

We are seeking an individual with a robust background in artificial intelligence (AI) and a comprehensive understanding of its practical applications. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in the energy-efficient implementation of machine learning techniques. Furthermore, the ability to effectively evaluate and optimize the performance of machine learning algorithms using alternative numbering systems would be highly advantageous.

Position Requirements

• Adhere to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager
• Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB and Python

Qualifications  

Candidate Profile

Essential Criteria

• PhD from a reputable university in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science or related discipline
• Experience of undertaking assigned research tasks and starting to manage own workload
• Contributing to scientific papers and academic journal articles where possible acting as lead/ corresponding author
• A willingness to contribute to a collaborative and supportive team culture
• Excellent English language communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to function as part of a team working on multiple tasks with competing demands and deadlines
• Well-developed reasoning and problem-solving skills

Desired Criteria

• At least 1 year of increasingly accountable relevant experience as a researcher in academia or in industry
• Experience contributing to high impact publications in top 10% journals in the relevant field
