Dean of Engineering

We are part of a diverse group comprising London South Bank University, University Academies and Colleges and an enterprise centre. The University has eight schools of study each led by a dedicated Dean. The School of Engineering is a vibrant school of over 1800 and 80 staff. It has four Divisions: Mechanical Engineering and Design; Electrical and Electrical Engineering; Chemical and Energy Engineering; and Computer Science and Informatics. Our courses mix technical analysis, practical skills, design and simulation, along with the social, ethical and professional dimensions of engineering. Our state-of-the-art laboratory facilities support our teaching along with our applied research and our researchers are at the frontline of knowledge, posing questions and making discoveries that drive innovation and growth. 

We are looking to appoint an inspiring Dean for the School of Engineering who not only understands and nurtures our history and what makes us unique, but who can work with the School and wider University community to celebrate our strengths and achievements, with a call to action from the appointee whilst forging an ambitious path forward.

Reporting to the Provost, Professor Tara Dean, the Dean will be a member of the University’s Management Board and, as such, will play an important role in the management of the University. They will be a champion and advocate for the positive contribution the School and University make as a civic university. Equally, they will share our values and have the ability to engender a diverse, inclusive and respectful.  

The successful candidate will have a strong intellectual and academic record, high level analytical skills and the ability to think broadly and strategically alongside a track record of having provided visionary and transformative leadership to academic teams in a multi-disciplinary environment.
