Role Description

The Centre for Defence Chemistry / Environmental Science and Research Support Group covers a wide range of teaching and research.  In contributing to delivery of the MOD Academic Provided Contract the Group has a significant input to the Explosives Ordnance Engineering Course (EOE), the Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO) and the Ammunition Technicians Course (AT).

About the Role

You will:

  • Deliver and develop MOD environmental and safety management courses, including a hazardous materials course, to the specifications of the course sponsor. 
  • Deliver education at MSc level on the Explosives Ordnance and Engineering MSc.
  • Support MSc Level project students in explosives in the environment, which includes impact to land, air and water.
  • Help grow the research output of the Environmental Sciences Team to enable publication of peer-reviewed papers, and successful research grant applications.

About You

You will have an environmental / safety / engineering science or chemistry PhD with a Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice or willing to study towards PGCAP qualification and FHEA.  You will have experience of presenting / teaching technical subjects at A-level or above.  Laboratory experience and a track record of high-quality research publications is essential.  A strong background in environmental science / engineering and knowledge of environmental and safety management is required.  Knowledge of MOD structure and practice is desirable.
