Post-doctoral Fellow in Quantitative Social Science in the Department of Urban Planning and Design (Ref.: 522534)
Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Quantitative Social Science in the Department of Urban Planning and Design at the University of Hong Kong, to commence as soon as possible but not later than 1 December 2023, for a period of 18-24 months.
Applicants should have a PhD degree in a suitable subject (urban economics, empirical social science, urban planning, human geography, public health, or similar); with experience in evaluating economic, social or health impacts of large-scale interventions in cities (e.g., new transport infrastructure, urban renewal, or public policy). Expertise in rigorous research designs (e.g., randomized controlled experiment, field experiment, or natural experiment) and statistical models for causal inference would be an advantage.
The appointee will report to the PI Dr Guibo Sun and Prof. Chris Webster. S/he will participate in multiple projects in Urban Analytics and Interventions Research Lab (https://www.ulab.hku.hk) and generally contribute to the Faculty’s experimental research methodology agenda. The candidate should have experience in co-authoring and managing competitive research grants and publishing their work in leading journals. The primary responsibilities include participating in or leading research projects and publications, and would be expected to join competitive grant applications. The appointee is also expected to start new projects based on new funding.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
The University only accepts online application for the above posts. Applicants should apply online and upload a cover letter, your C.V. and a representative paper. Enquiries can be sent to Dr Guibo Sun (e-mail: gbsun@hku.hk).
