DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor in Wastes Valorisation (Ref. 230705006)
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering enjoys a high reputation in conducting application-oriented research and has well established connections with industry partners and government agencies in Hong Kong. It offers academic programmes at various levels. In addition to PhD and MSc programmes, the Department currently offers 5 undergraduate programmes, namely BEng(Hons) in Civil Engineering, BEng(Hons) in Civil Engineering (Structural and Fire Safety Engineering), BEng(Hons) in Civil Engineering (Smart Mobility) (Secondary Major: AI and Data Analysis), BEng(Hons) in Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development and BSc(Hons) in Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health.

The appointee will be required to:
(a) undertake teaching duties in relevant subject areas at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
(b) supervise student projects and theses;
(c) initiate, lead and participate in scholarly research in his / her area of expertise, which will lead to quality journal publications and in bidding for external research grants and projects;
(d) undertake relevant administrative duties, including programme leadership, curriculum development, programme validation, accreditation, etc.; and
(e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his / her delegates.
(a) have a PhD degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Management or Policy or related areas;
(b) have demonstrated research leadership in the area of wastes valorisation;
(c) have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research and academic advising;
(d) have a good record of research, publications and scholarship; and
(e) be able to demonstrate effective classroom teaching skills and have good interpersonal skills.
Applicants for appointment at Professor level should demonstrate a strong background in research with an international academic profile. They should also demonstrate excellent international reputation in research and possess an excellent record of academic leadership and research scholarship, both in terms of publications and funded research. Applicants with less experience will be considered for appointment at the level of Associate Professor / Assistant Professor. The job duty requirements and expectation would be in line with the appointed grade.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment for Assistant Professor will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. An appropriate term will be provided for appointment at Associate Professor and Professor levels.
