The Information Services Division (ISD) is the primary provider of IT services to UCL. We support and enhance learning, teaching, research and administrative processes by providing information- and technology-related services to over 50,000 staff and students of UCL and associated institutions.

Our ambition is to be the leading IT services group in the HE sector and we are growing our team's capability in experience/UX, agile development, security, cloud, service management and partnering. We are modernising our technology foundations, digitising the processes of the university to transform experience for students and staff, and partnering across the university to drive differentiation in UCL education and research.

Within ISD, this post is in Faculty IT & Partnering which provides local specialist applications and systems support and IT strategic business partnering for users in across our faculties.

About the role

Our Faculty IT & Partnering team are currently recruiting an IT Service Manager to lead a small team of IT Support Specialists in their delivery of support and services to the faculty of Brain Sciences.

Whilst technical at its core, the role is focused on the management of IT services to the faculty in conjunction with teams from both ISD and faculty departments and will include:

  • Line management of three IT Support Specialists
  • Matrix management of assigned technical support agents
  • Customer Relationship Management
  • Technical Advisory and Project Support
  • Service Level Monitoring and management
  • Strategic planning

About you

As an IT service oriented individual, you're passionate about IT and equally driven by a 'how can I help?' attitude. Within your career, you've been working within service management or in a technical role and are looking to take take the next step in a position where your curiosity can be utilised to identify user requirements and match them to real-world solutions. You enjoy leading a team by example and are comfortable relaying IT concepts to all user levels, skilfully orchestrating the combined knowledge and skills of the wider IT community to deliver excellent IT service to the faculty.

Your management and development skills are matched by your technical knowledge and you are commonly seen as the 'trusted advisor' by your peers. You thrive in an environment where change is the norm, and can adeptly handle pressure and competing priorities. Additionally, you are able to think tactically to provide immediate solutions, but this is secondary to your strategic view of the future.

Please note - this role is based on-site full time, primarily from offices in Queen Square, Bloomsbury.
