The Role  

The Department of Ancient Classics in Maynooth University is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor/Lecturer or Assistant Lecturer in Latin literature, language, and culture. The post will be initially filled for a three-year period. Specialisation is open but especially welcome are scholars focussing on the late Republic, early Empire, and/or reception studies. Ability to teach Latin at all levels is necessary, as is the flexibility to contribute engaging modules at both BA and MA levels. Experience in the recruitment and retention of students is highly desirable. The successful candidate will participate in the Department’s postgraduate programmes, supervising MA and PhD students, and will be actively engaged on research projects that bolster the research culture of the Department and Faculty.

Salary

Assistant Professor / Lecturer: €59,370 – €94,015 p.a. (7 points)  
Assistant Lecturer : €37,909 - €66,012 p.a. (14 points)  

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
