Are you ready for an exciting new challenge? Are you passionate about supporting the educational progression of young people?

The SUN works across Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight and is dedicated to transforming educational opportunities and fostering relationships between universities, colleges, schools, and third-party organisations. We are committed to delivering the Uni Connect programme, empowering young people to access higher education and achieve their full potential.

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Programme Manager to lead the strategic management and successful delivery of the SUN Uni Connect programme across the region. This role demands exceptional partnership working skills, an in-depth understanding of the education sector, particularly in the context of widening participation, and the ability to drive impactful initiatives.

You will lead the development and execution of operating plans for the SUN, ensuring alignment with the Office for Students goals. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across the region and manage SUN’s school and further education programmes. You will manage the SUN central team and provide project leadership to remote staff based in multiple educational institutions. You will play a key role in implementing the SUN’s evaluation and monitoring plans and will support the delivery of the partnership’s new attainment-raising programme for 2023-24.

The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive experience in project or programme management within the education sector and a proven track record of successfully managing partnerships and collaborating with multiple stakeholders. You will possess excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff. You will be able to manage a varied workload, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines.

This post is a combination of hybrid working between the University of Southampton and your home but with regular travel across the SUN region.

The post is offered on a full-time fixed-term basis until 31/07/2024 and the successful candidate will be appointed on a scale between £43,155 - £48,423. We are open to part-time (minimum 0.8 FTE), or job share arrangements.

A enhanced dbs may be required for this role.

For an informal discussion and to find out more about this opportunity please contact Claire O’Neill, Head of SUN, claire.oneill@soton.ac.uk .
