The Opportunity

The overall purpose of the Research Officer, Funding​ is to undertake compliance and eligibility reviews of applications for research funding and provide feedback to applicants, and upon success, oversee the establishment of financial accounts and milestone reporting obligations.  

This is a full-time fixed-term (maternity leave) position at a HEP 6, $82,372 - $89,161 classification plus 17% superannuation, working 36.75 hours (1 FTE) per week until 15/03/2024. 

About You

You will demonstrate initiative, judgement and skill in performing the major tasks, operating in accordance with VU policies and procedures.  You will be proficient in research funding administration, including knowledge of the associated internal and external requirements and processes - applying analytical and problem solving skills to complex situations/problems and developing strategies and opportunities to resolve issues.

You will:

  • Identify and promote research funding opportunities to the VU research community  
  • Conduct compliance, eligibility and budget reviews for external research funding applications, provide researchers with feedback on their drafts and ensure the timely submission to the funding agency 
  • Coordinate post award procedures for successful applications
  • Work collaboratively with senior management and staff to develop, review and evaluate administrative procedures.
  • Provide support and advice on policy matters in relation to research funding opportunities. 
  • Maintain records of research funding in the University’s research management system
  • Assist in the organisation of seminars, workshops and information sessions for research funding
