Job Description
Yale-NUS College is a highly selective liberal arts and science college in Singapore. Co-founded by Yale University and the National University of Singapore, the College is committed to excellence in research and teaching within a full residential programme that integrates living and learning. Its curriculum educates students in Asian and Western intellectual traditions as well as current scientific thought.
The College is seeking to hire a full-time Lecturer in Literature (in any field) to support its Literature Major. This position is on a fixed term contract, one year initially (Academic Year 2023-2024), with a possibility of extension for a further year where there is sufficient course demand.
The successful candidate is expected to teach 5 courses. While these courses will fall predominantly in the Literature Major (elective courses offered at advanced level to 3rd and 4th year students), there may also be scope to contribute to other areas of college teaching, such as our Historical Immersion suite of courses. Advising students and other services will also be required as needed.
The College offers competitive salaries that are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Qualifications
- PhD in literary studies or other related humanistic fields (e.g. Film/media studies, History, Classics, other area studies) from a regionally or internationally accredited institution
- At least two (2) years of undergraduate teaching experience is strongly preferred
- Prior experience in teaching and advising at a liberal arts college is strongly preferred
