Research Fellow, Breast Cancer Programs

• Part time or Full time (0.6 - 1 FTE), fixed term 2-year contract
• Lead the way in breast cancer prevention alongside a team of expert researchers at the Daffodil Centre
• Base Salary $113,184 - $134,403 (pro-rata for part time) + 17% superannuation

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced researcher to join the Breast Cancer Clinical & Population Health stream as a Research Fellow, to contribute to health services research with a focus on prevention. You will have the opportunity to support and co-lead existing public health research in breast cancer and have the chance to work autonomously to develop independent research areas in breast cancer screening and prevention.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• Co-lead and potentially lead on research work in breast cancer prevention, including a cancer screening trial under plan in collaboration with Breast Screening Programs, or other, large, cohort studies
• provide direction and mentorship to Level A researchers in the team and post-graduate students
• design, partake, and undertake public health and epidemiological studies and breast cancer prevention research
• seek out research synergies and network within and outside the Daffodil Centre research streams
• actively contribute to research through clinical trial activities and real-world implementation studies.

About you

• hold a PhD or equivalent post-graduate qualification (desirable to be in public health or epidemiology or related fields)
• track-record in peer-reviewed publications (independently or as part of a team)
• strong understanding of relevant research methods such as epidemiology, evidence-based cancer care or screening research
• clinical trials or health services research with ability to work autonomously or in a team when needed
• prevention research experience in relevant fields with skills in managing data sets, ethics applications, and coordination of project-specific tasks
• experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
