The School of Humanities and Social Sciences in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Greenwich is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Sociology. The School is based at the historic world heritage site of the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich and has a strong interdisciplinary ethos. The School prides itself on the support provided to students throughout their studies, enhancing their knowledge, skill set, confidence and employability.
The candidate must have expertise in one or more of these fields: Sociology of Health; Sociological Theory; Social Policy; Decolonising the Curriculum, Sociology of Race and be actively engaged in research. You will join the Sociology programme team, working to develop our external and international profile whilst expanding activities related to public/social engagement. The successful candidate will teach on our BA Sociology and combinations, leading the level 5 module Key Thinkers in Sociology, Sociology of Health and Illness as well as contributing to team-taught modules at levels 4, 5 and 6.The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the newly developed MA Governance, Policy and Practice. They will also contribute to the supervision of level 6 dissertations, level 6 work placements and supervision of postgraduate students.
We are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic individual who is committed to excellence in teaching, research and student support. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and experience of successfully delivering high-quality teaching. We are also interested in hearing from candidates who can contribute to our student employability activities.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Sociology, Social Policy or a relevant Social Science discipline
