Applications are invited for a specified purpose post of a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Equine Clinical Studies within UCD School of Veterinary Medicine.

This is a 6 month full-time position in Equine Clinical Studies.

  • The successful candidate will play an important role in the ongoing development of the Equine Clinical Studies discipline and the Equine Field Service within the Section of Equine Clinical Studies, Diagnostic Imaging and Anaesthesia and the UCD Veterinary Hospital. In particular, the candidate will participate fully in undergraduate teaching, including clinical teaching, in the Equine Field Service. This service includes for example first opinion equine work, dentistry services, sports medicine related services, reproductive work and onsite support/aftercare of horses that have received specialist services at the UCD Veterinary Hospital.
  • It is anticipated that clinical service and related instruction will constitute the majority of the appointee's effort in addition to didactic teaching and other scholarly activity. Support for clinical research will also be required. The appointee will participate in the clinical out-of-hours rota. Applicants must hold a degree in veterinary medicine registrable with the Veterinary Council of Ireland. The successful applicant will be expected to provide excellent teaching in basic equine clinical skills using practical classes, tutorials and demonstrations.

95 Lecturer/Asst Professor Above The Bar Salary: 59,370 - 94,015 per annum.

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
