Applications are invited for a post at the University of Southampton working on the Future Transport Zone (FTZ) programme, a £28.75 million project funded by the Department for Transport to trial innovative and sustainable ways to move people and goods. This is a multidisciplinary project in collaboration with the University of Portsmouth and Solent Transport, comprising Southampton City Council, Portsmouth City Council, Isle of Wight Council, and Hampshire County Council. The research project started in January 2021 and will complete by the end of June 2025. The University of Southampton will develop and test a Mobility as a Service (MaaS) App in collaboration with a MaaS provider (Trafi) and investigate travel behaviour change to reduce private car usage, making travel journeys smarter and greener within the Solent sub-region. The University will also undertake monitoring and evaluation to assess the extent that the programme will change travel behaviour, reduced congestion, improve air quality, tackle climate change and transform the Solent sub-region into a better place to live and work.

To be successful you will have a minimum skill level equivalent to the achievement of HNC, A-level, NVQ3 with proven work experience acquired in relevant experimental support roles or job-related training. In addition, it would be an advantage have experience in at least one of the following: psychology, human factors and ergonomics, statistical data analysis or interface design. You should also have the ability to work effectively within a research team.

This post is fixed term, initially for a period of 12 months.
