Job Details

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Programme Management Lead - POST within UCD POST.

This role is responsible for leading the Programme Management Team of the Programme for Operations and Services Transformation (POST), including the on-going management and development of the Team. The role reports to the POST Programme Director.

In May 2022 UCD launched the multi-year Programme for Operations and Services Transformation (POST). The purpose of this service focused digital transformation of operations is to:

  1. Create a better experience for UCD's academics, students and staff;
  2. Better enable UCD's teaching, our research, our scholarship and our student and staff services;
  3. Enhance the skills, capabilities, supports for, and job roles, of those who provide these processes, systems and supports
  4. Better deliver UCD's strategy and ambitions; and
  5. Better enable UCD to be resilient to external demands and pressures.

The programme is people-centred in order: (i) to ensure our services, processes and systems are focused on meeting the needs of the people in our community; and (ii) to use a people-centred approach to drive the integration, streamlining and simplification of supports and services. The programme is service-focused digital transformation of operations. (The programme is not looking at the academic aspects of teaching and research).

The UMT Service Group (Service Group) oversees the implementation of POST. The Programme Management Team, and hence this role, has a two-way focus: it is a key support for the UMT Service Group and governance layer of the programme, and a key enabler of the successful delivery of the programme of work which delivers the objectives of POST. The Programme Management Lead ensures both the effective operation of programme governance and direction and the effective operation of the programme office in its support for the programme.

The Programme Management Lead will lead and develop the Programme Management Team in support of the Programme Director and the delivery of the programme's objectives. The Programme Management Team, alongside UCD Agile, will provide the core capabilities which enable this programme. The Programme Management Team's responsibilities includes: enabling programme governance; governance / project management standards and templates; programme reporting; benefits realisation; secretariat for the UMT Service Group; programme-level project and change management and communications; programme finances; and programme administration.

The post of Programme Lead is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering this transformation programme. The successful candidate will have a strong record of leading the delivery of significant programmes using systematic skills in project and change management, will have managed complex project teams, will have had formal programme or project manager roles, and will have worked successfully with senior leadership in shaping and delivering programmes and projects.

It is expected that, over time, how the Programme Management Team, and the roles withing it, support the programme will develop. The Programme Management Lead will be central in this development.
