The School of Accounting and Finance is one of the constituent units of the Faculty of Business and is the longest established accounting school in Hong Kong with over 80 full-time academic as well as teaching staff in the areas of accounting, finance, economics, and law.  The School has adequate resources to support a variety of research interests and activities, and has comparative advantage in promoting cross-disciplinary research that is needed in the modern business world.  The School has maintained an excellent network with overseas and Mainland China institutions for collaborative work.

The research of our Faculty of Business has been ranked 52nd in the world (The UTD Top 100 Worldwide Business School Rankings based on research contributions for the period 2018-2022).  During the last few years, faculty members were successful in publishing their research papers in top-tier refereed journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.

The School is now inviting applications for the position of Chair Professor in Accounting. Enquiries about the post specification can be forwarded to Prof. Nancy Su, Head of the School of Accounting and Finance.

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    provide leadership in all aspects of academic activities, including research, teaching and service in the School;

(b)    provide leadership in promoting research collaboration, securing external research grants as well as enhancing research quality and publication output; 

(c)    engage in scholarly research/high-level consultancy;

(d)    facilitate the School to gain and increase visibility and international connections;

(e)    engage in the supervision of research students;

(f)    teach and contribute to curriculum development at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;

(g)    contribute to academic administration and management in the University; and

(h)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of School or her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a)    a PhD degree in Accounting or other closely related areas;

(b)    research achievements of international standing in Accounting;

(c)    a strong record in attracting research funding and excellence in research outputs;

(d)    a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning;

(e)    a global perspective, proven qualities of academic leadership, and a demonstrated ability of fostering collaboration with faculty members from different cultural and research backgrounds in teaching, intellectual contributions and service activities; and

(f)    ability to bring more visibility, prestige and reputation to the University.

Preference will be given to those with experience in the professional discipline and a recognised professional qualification. Interdisciplinary leadership experience would be considered as a major asset.
